This year, the Garden Club suggested that we not renew our contract with a third-party vendor who planted annuals in our turnabout (and courtyard planters) at a cost of $7,500 annually and rather, empower our Garden Club to reinvest that money into perennials which will grow back year after year. This decision was embraced by the board and will save the MDA tens of thousands of dollars in the future, as these perennials will continue to grow, eliminating the need for seasonal plant purchases.
The MDA Landscaping Planning Group conducted extensive research on viable plants for the area and crafted a design that enhances our turnabout, includes more plants than were ever planted annually, and provides visual interest throughout the seasons. The Garden Club executed on their vision and planted 100 new permanent plants in our turnabout! They may look small now, but they will fill in the space nicely, adding curb appeal (which in turn helps our property values). This was all accomplished for $1,200! Teamwork make the dream work!
