Garden Club organizers Jeff White and Julie Ghatan, along with volunteers Phillip Rickertsen, Milli Zukowsky, David Ottoman, and Linda Tomkow got their hands dirty this past Saturday morning and planted 1,000 bulbs generously donated by resident and Garden Club member Phillip Rickertsen.
Teamwork truly does make the dreamwork and the entire building will get to enjoy the fruits of their labor come spring! Every resident is welcome to join the Garden Club--no experience necessary! The only qualifications are a positive attitude and a can-do spirit. Fill out the form here to join!
Here's how the last planting day of the year went:
Jeff kindly donated coffee, fresh-squeezed OJ, fruit, and pastries to keep team energy up as they undertook the challenge of planting so many bulbs. It worked!
Milli and David planted bulbs in the turnabout.
Jeff dug holes to help Linda plant the tulip bulbs she donated in the courtyard.
Phillip dug up the dead begonias and planted fresh bulbs into trenches on the Carmen/Marine lawn.
Jeff and Julie planted daffodils around a few trees in the Marine/Carmen lawn.
Milli takes a well-earned break!
Our little black squirrel mascot made an appearance too!
The team worked hard to plant the following in the Marine Drive lawn and turnabout:
400 crocuses:
500 Muscari Armeniacum:
30 fancy white double tulips:
36 purple tulips:
and 70 daffodils, both standard and double daffodils:
